In this episode of the Beyond Your Wedding Day Podcast, we continue our discussion on the book The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. We discuss chapter 6 entitled “Love Language #3: Receiving Gifts.”

Mandy and I discuss our crazy, tornado-filled trip to the zoo last week!

-Gift giving is a fundamental expression of love that transcends cultural barriers

-it does not matter the cost of a gift: they can be bought, found, or made

-if she has been critical of gifts you have given her in the past, receiving gifts is probably not her primary love language

-you may need to change how you view spending money on gifts for your spouse if their love language is gifts

*it can be particularly difficult for someone who is a natural saver

*you have to look at it as investing in your marriage

-the gift of your presence is one of the biggest ways to show your love

*especially in a time of crisis (death of a loved one) or a major event (birth of a child)

-you can radically change your marriage by giving one gift a day for a week (and once a week thereafter) if your wife’s love language is receiving gifts

*it may even save a dying marriage if you have never given gifts since you’ve been married

I’d love to help you and your spouse or fiance get on the same page financially. Here’s how.
